Who We Are And How It Works
The Labour Party is made up of 650 Constituency Labour Party (CLP) organisations. Putney CLP is one of them.
Whilst part of the national party, we run our own affairs locally and our Members (we have more than 1000 in this CLP alone!) elect an Executive Committee (EC) and a General Committee (GC) to organise campaigns, support the community and carry out all the other things we do in support of both the Party, and of the wider area.
If you join the Labour Party, and live in the Putney, Roehampton & Southfields constituency Putney, you will automatically become part of the local Putney party and be eligible to stand for election to one of these Committees, should you so wish.
Here in Putney, we have a number of local elected officials who represent Labour too.
Fleur Anderson MP was elected Labour MP for Putney, Roehampton and Southfields in 2019. Fleur has lived in Wandsworth for 25 years and tirelessly speaks up for local residents. Check out her website https://www.fleuranderson.co.uk if you want to get in touch with her.
Leonie Cooper AM is our Member on the London Assembly where she is the Labour Party lead on the Environment. Leonie is also a Wandsworth Councillor working hard to make Wandsworth Borough a better place to live.
We also have five Labour Councillors here in Putney – Cllr Peter Carpenter (West Hill), Cllr Angela Ireland (West Hill), Cllr Jeremy Ambache (Roehampton), Cllr Claire Gilbert (Roehampton) and Cllr Sue McKinney (Roehampton). You can read about our councillors here: https://wandsworthlabour.com/councillors/.

The Labour Party in Putney is made up of six Branches, each of which corresponds with a Ward, and which are the smallest organising units of the party. Each Branch has an elected Chair and a Secretary and meets periodically to feed into the wider Constituency Labour Party.
It is the Branches which select candidates to stand as Councillors, and it is the Wards which elect Councillors onto Wandsworth Council.
To see which Branch and Ward you are in, and get contact details for your local Chair and Secretary, please see the map below:
The Ward boundaries are shown in red, and for the most part the Branch boundaries match the Ward boundaries. The sharp-eyed will observe in the top left a green line which is the Putney Constituency boundary and which cuts into East Putney. The part of East Putney that lies to the north-east of the green line, is part of the new Wandsworth Town Ward, and is currently a part of Battersea Constituency: the members in this area are still a part of a Battersea Branch. Similarly, the area that lies east of East Putney and north of Southfields inside the green line is also a part of the new Wandsworth Town Ward, but the members in this area will for now remain a part of Southfields Branch, attending meetings with Southfields and electing delegates with Southfields.
