The Labour Party, both in Putney and across the UK, has been fighting for a better, fairer Britain for over 100 years.

Labour has a proud history with great achievements – from founding the NHS and NATO in the 1940s, through to the national minimum wage and record investment in schools and hospitals in the 1990s and 2000s. We have also provided Britain with some if its greatest Prime Ministers – from Putney-born Clement Atlee and Harold Wilson in the post-war years, to Tony Blair and Gordon Brown more recently.

Today, Labour exists to change Britain once again.

In the last decade, we have become a more and more divided country in which some earn millions but far more suffer in poverty. We’re a country in which some have the greatest opportunities in the world, yet many have no hope at all. And we’re a country which rather than cleaning up our environment allows it to become worse by the day.

Labour’s vision for Britain is to create a fairer and more prosperous society for everyone. One that prioritises giving opportunity to every child, and creates a country that turns out to the world, rather than in on itself. And a country that leads the world in tackling the climate emergency to make a cleaner, greener future.

We think Britain, and Putney, deserves better than that it is getting from the current government. And we’re working every day to make the change we need happen.
